Dave has the personalised and ever so cool certificates from the last set of gradings.
It took a little while longer than usual this year to find someone to write the Japanese names, dates and ranks, but if you take a look at the example of a sankyu (3rd class) certificate below, we think you will agree that they were worth the wait!
About the certificate
It’s mainly written in old Japanese characters (kanji) with some katakana for names and dates. Reading right-to-left, the translation (almost literally) is:
Certification
<Your name>
The person written to the right is now aikido
<Your grade - 6th kyu, 5th kyu etc.,.> award
<Date>
Aikido Fudoshin Dojo
Principal of dojo - Dave Dimmick
We would like to express our thanks to Sayoko Kishida for filling in names and to Wei-Jin (and his cousin in Malaysia!) for procuring the club stamp on our behalf. This also says “Fudoshin Aikido Club” in the ancient characters of the Chi dynasty.
We would also like to once again say well done to everyone who took part in the gradings. The panel were impressed as always at the levels of aikido on display, and all you members should be proud with your newly-minted kyu.
