Another Annual International Garden Party has been and gone. As always it was a success and we are grateful to everyone who made it there, as well as to Dave for warmly welcoming us to into his home once again.
Now only 364 days to plan for the next one…
Seminar: Daito ryu aikijujutsu
There is a seminar being held at Plasnewydd Community Hall on Saturday 21st June, 10:00-16:00. The cost is £20. It is not a seminar run by Cardiff University Aikido, however daito ryu aikijujutsu is one of the foundation stones for the art of aikido. It should prove especially interesting to those who wish to develop their understanding in the role of the sword (hence, “daito”) in the practice of aikido.
The seminar is being led by Quentin Ball, who has much experience as well as being the founder of Nine Circles, the supplier of our club equipment.
For more information either contact Lawrence Fisher on lfisher [at] bujutsu.org.uk, or speak to one of us. A full flier is available and a poster is up in the Talybont dojo.

There was an excellent friendly atmosphere and just the right amount of people. The success in my view is thanks to the individuals that attend the day. Every person I talked to enjoyed themselves and everyone tried hard to learn from the day. An introduction to any koryu is complicated due to its historical placement and context, thank goodness everyone tried hard to understand this and held an open minded approach to what was presented.
This was the first of many seminars that we will be organising with various martial artists both koryu and gendai, as my associate Ben Ford said, “We are planning on a seminar for charity on Remembrance Sunday,” which, rest assured, David Dimmick will be made aware of. Ben and I have been discussing the idea of an annual charitable martial arts event for some time now and it looks like this will be the first year for it.
I am glad that the effort I went to to organise this event was appreciated and that the people who attended all seemed to get something personal from it.
Thanks again.

Sorry for the long wait for approval Lawrence, I was out of the country with only sporadic net access. Thanks for the comment though, I’m sure all who attended appreciated its organisation as much as you did their attendance!
