The new term has started out well, and we were glad to see many new faces at our first two sessions. If you haven’t yet tried our club but were thinking of doing so, please do come to a session; we don’t have a limited intake/beginners period so we would be happy to see you train at any time you want. And, of course, taster sessions are free.

Speaking of which, Joel will be bringing up the issues that some people have been experiencing with the online payment system with the Athletic Union. If any one is still having problems in a couple of days drop us an email–we do want to take your money, honest!

We’ve got several exciting seminars and socials lined up, so watch this space.

©Ian LlewelynWe are very pleased to be hosting a visit by a renowned 6th dan, Philippe Voarino.

Voarino began studying aikido under Nobuyoshi Tamura in 1977. He is one of several French aikido teachers of international reputation, having worked within and beyond France to promote and develop aikido. Philippe is a superb teacher, and well-known to the aikido community in the UK, particularly (but not only) as a teacher of weapons techniques.

This is an excellent opportunity to study under an aikido instructor of international standing.

We anticipate, following Philippe’s extremely successful visit last year, that interest in this event will be extremely high, so those wishing to attend are advised to register as early as possible (see below).

  • Thursday 30th October, 7pm-10pm (NB, for Cardiff University Aikido students only)
  • Saturday 1st November, 2pm-5pm

Food: It’s an Indian restaurant, one of the nicest in Cardiff. They will do a sampler menu for us, so everyone gets a chance to have a bit of everything, for £12.50 a head, including starters and sweets.

Alcohol: They don’t serve alcohol on the premises, but you can bring your own bottles. There is a £1 corkage charge.

Cost: £12.50 per person.
